Well, first of all let us decode this abbreviation, SEO means Search Engine Optimization. If you take a closer look at these words you can guess approximately what it is all about, it has something to do with search engines and you do something with that (optimizing it) to get some kind of a result. Well, in an online marketing industry you apply techniques of SEO so your website would rank high in search engines, in other words, you do SEO so that when the person searches online for a product/service/information which is affiliated with your website, your website will be listed on the first pages in Google, Yahoo and other search engines. The reason why everyone wants to get to the first three pages is because many studies show that those are the most profitable places for the website to be and that people who do the search don’t go past first three pages in the search results.

SEO is considered to be the most inexpensive marketing approach in promoting the website on the web, but many disagree with this statement. Promoting the website online can become a full time job, in some cases people have to do SEO for 50 to 60 hours a week for couple of years so their websites can be listed on the first three pages of the search engine’s results.

The main technique of SEO is to make your website visible. You can do it by searching forums and introducing your website to forum participants, you can make post on various social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and etc. and invite people to visit your website, you can also post your articles or articles about your website on different public websites, basically you have to spread the word through the Internet about yourself. Of course there are many more techniques and strategies in the SEO process, which we are planning to discuss in detail in other posts, but for now we just wanted to give you a brief overview of what an SEO is.
